Partnering with Stemettes
Stemettes is a social enterprise set up to show the next generation that girls do Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
A bunch of people at Methods Digital, including our managing director James Herbert, are passionate about diversity and are desperate to see more female talent on the tech market. But the education that girls can do STEM, just as much as boys, starts at a young age. So Methods Digital has decided to partner with Stemettes to help make young girls aware that they have options available to them beyond their traditional careers paths.
Methods Digital and Stemettes to host a ‘Fake News’ Hackathon for girls
Methods Digital is backing Stemettes to organise a unique two-day event, bringing together girls from across the country for a weekend of fun, creativity and computer science.
This hackathon will provide 50 young girls an opportunity to explore, play and get creative in the fascinating world of technology, whilst giving them a hands-on experience in coding. The girls will be building websites on the trending theme of ‘Fake News’.
The event will be hosted at the University of West Scotland (UWS) near Glasgow on the 18th and 19th March 2017. It is open to girls aged 5 to 22 and no prior coding experience is required.
